Best Foot Forward is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Academic Tutor to provide one-to-one tuition in Maths and English to students who are not currently in full-time education, including those with special educational needs (SEN). This rewarding role is ideal for an experienced educator who is patient, adaptable, and passionate about helping young people re-engage with learning and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-to-one tuition in Maths and English tailored to individual learning needs.
- Plan and adapt lessons for students with a range of abilities and additional needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, and SEMH challenges.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, motivation, and progress.
- Keep accurate records of attendance, progress, and learning outcomes.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and education professionals to ensure consistent support.
Requirements:
- Strong subject knowledge in Maths and English (Primary, Secondary, or GCSE level).
- Experience working with students who have SEN and/or are educated outside mainstream settings.
- Excellent communication, empathy, and behaviour management skills.
- Ability to work independently on a self-employed basis.
- Own transport is essential, with a willingness to obtain business car insurance prior to starting the role.
- Enhanced DBS check and willingness to be registered with the DBS Update Service.
