Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Kitchen Hand to join our small, close knit restaurant team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a busy kitchen environment, supporting the preparation and service of pizzas and our range of specials and sides. The successful candidate will play a vital part in maintaining cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency within the kitchen while adhering to food safety standards. Prior kitchen or restaurant experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate. This paid position is ideal for individuals passionate about food preparation and eager to develop their culinary skills, with the opportunity for progression to pizzaiolo chef.
Duties
- Assist with food preparation tasks, including peeling, chopping, and assembling ingredients
- Support cooking activities under supervision, ensuring timely meal production
- Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, utensils, and kitchen equipment in accordance with hygiene standards
- Organise and restock supplies to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Help with dishwashing and waste disposal to uphold cleanliness and safety standards
- Assist in serving meals to staff or customers as required
- Follow all food safety protocols diligently to prevent contamination or spoilage
- Support the team during busy periods by performing various general kitchen duties as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, or catering environment is advantageous but not mandatory
- Knowledge of basic food preparation and safety procedures is desirable
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and a proactive attitude towards cleanliness and hygiene
- Willingness to learn new skills and follow instructions from senior staff
- Ability to work as part of a team with a positive attitude
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including early mornings or evenings if necessary
