Job Title: CNC Operator & Joiner (Part-Time, 2–3 Days Per Week)
Location: East London (In-House)
Hours: Flexible 3-4 days per week (Potential for more hours as production expands)
About Us:
We are an architectural and décor manufacturing workshop based in East London. We make bespoke event structures, scenic installations, and decorative joinery. We run a 10ft x 5ft 3-Axis CNC Router with an 8-station Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) and are looking for someone practical to help us run the machine and assemble the work.
The Role:
We need someone who can handle both sides of the job: setting up the CNC and getting stuck in at the assembly bench. You will be responsible for taking drawing files, nesting them, cutting the sheets, and then physically building and assembling the finished structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- CNC Operation & Programming: Use Vectric VCarve Pro to load drawings, program toolpaths, and nest sheets efficiently to keep material waste low.
- Assembly & Bench Joinery: Take the parts off the CNC and build them into finished pieces (like custom arches, columns, and paneled walls). This includes framing, using pocket-hole joinery, adding moldings, and flush-sanding so it is ready for paint.
- Material Setup: Set the right speeds and tools on the 8-tool carousel for different materials. We mostly use MDF and Plywood, but we also work with Acrylic, Dibond, and PVC.
- General Workshop Help: Keep the machine clean, handle basic daily maintenance (like lubrication and checking dust extraction), and keep the workspace organized.
What We Are Looking For:
- Good experience running and programming 3-axis CNC routers.
- Proficiency using VCarve Pro or Vectric Aspire.
- A solid background in carpentry or bench joinery—someone who knows how to put wood together cleanly and securely.
- Basic knowledge of cutting plastics (Acrylic/PVC) without melting the material.
- Ability to read standard workshop drawings and work independently.
- What We Offer:
- Flexible working days to fit around your other work or commitments.
- A clean, modern workshop with reliable machinery and automated tool changing.
- A relaxed, creative working environment with steady work.
Pay: £13.00-£16.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Free parking
- On-site parking
