We're looking for an experienced and motivated electrical professional to join Bristol City Council as our Electrical Trade Manager.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a long-established and highly experienced team delivering electrical repairs, maintenance, compliance testing and improvement works across our housing stock.
You'll be joining a service with knowledgeable supervisors, quality control engineers, electricians and apprentices already in place, providing a strong foundation of technical expertise and operational support. Whether you're an existing manager or an experienced supervisor ready to take the next step, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills while making a real difference to residents across Bristol.
Working alongside colleagues across Housing and Landlord Services, you'll help shape the future of the electrical service, driving improvements in safety, compliance, customer satisfaction and service delivery.
What you'll be doing
- Leading an established in-house electrical service delivering repairs, maintenance, compliance testing and improvement works.
- Supporting and developing supervisors, electricians, apprentices and technical staff.
- Driving service improvements to enhance safety, quality and customer satisfaction.
- Working with colleagues across Housing and Landlord Services to deliver excellent outcomes for residents.
Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.

What we’re looking for
We're seeking someone with a strong electrical background and experience of leading people, projects or operational services.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can motivate teams, build positive working relationships and drive continuous improvement.
You'll bring:
- Experience in electrical repairs, maintenance, compliance or installation services.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to support and develop others.
- A collaborative approach and a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety responsibilities within an electrical environment.
- The ability to solve problems, make decisions and manage competing priorities.
This role could be ideal for an experienced supervisor, contracts supervisor or team leader looking to progress into a broader management role with support from an experienced senior leadership team.
