Deputy Manager – The Black Lion Hotel, Cardigan

The Black Lion Hotel is an exciting and growing gastro pub with rooms in the heart of Cardigan. Since joining the Flatrock Group, the property has undergone significant investment and continues to evolve, making this a fantastic opportunity to join a business with ambitious plans for the future.
Working closely alongside the General Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the hotel, ensuring high standards of customer service, supporting the team, and helping to deliver a great experience for every guest.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the General Manager in the day-to-day operation of the hotel.
- Leading and motivating the team across all departments, including food & beverage, reception and housekeeping.
- Acting as Manager on Duty and taking responsibility for the operation in the absence of the General Manager.
- Delivering exceptional customer service and resolving guest queries professionally.
- Training, coaching and developing team members.
- Assisting with recruitment, inductions, performance management and team development.
- Helping to drive sales while maintaining excellent service standards.
- Ensuring company policies, health & safety procedures and licensing requirements are followed at all times.
- Working closely with our sister properties, The Grosvenor and The Angel Hotel, to support staffing requirements when needed.
What we're looking for:
- Previous management or supervisory experience within hospitality.
- A hands-on leader who enjoys working alongside the team.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability and confidence making decisions.
- A positive, proactive attitude with a genuine passion for hospitality.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
