About Us
At Coercive Systems Limited, we design and manufacture high-performance electro-mechanical systems for demanding environments across defence, subsea, aerospace, and industrial sectors. With over 35 years of engineering heritage, we are a trusted supplier of precision motors, thrusters, electro-optical assemblies, and cryogenic cooling systems to global OEMs.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Technician to join our growing engineering and production team. This is a hands-on role responsible for the testing, validation, and fault-finding of complex electro-mechanical assemblies, including brushless motors, subsea thrusters, and precision systems.
You will play a key role in ensuring product quality, supporting new product development, and driving continuous improvement across our test processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct electrical and mechanical testing of electro-mechanical assemblies (motors, stators, rotors, thrusters, and associated systems)
- Perform insulation resistance, resistance, inductance, and functional performance testing
- Carry out no-load and load testing, including direction of rotation and current measurement
- Support environmental and subsea testing (including pressure and water tank testing where required)
- Diagnose faults and carry out root cause analysis on test failures
- Develop, improve, and document test procedures and specifications
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and production acceptance testing
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve technical issues
- Ensure all testing is carried out in line with internal procedures and customer specifications
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in testing electro-mechanical systems (ideally BLDC motors or similar)
- Strong understanding of electrical testing techniques (insulation resistance, inductance, phase resistance, etc.)
- Experience with test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Experience in fault finding and diagnostics
- Knowledge of subsea, defence, or aerospace environments is highly desirable
- Familiarity with quality standards (e.g. ISO9001 / AS9100)
Desirable Experience
- Experience with high-voltage or high-power systems
- Exposure to environmental or pressure testing
- Understanding of Hall sensors, thermistors, and motor control systems
- Experience writing or improving test specifications
What We Offer
- Competitive salary (dependent on experience)
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge engineering projects in defence and subsea sectors
- Career progression within a growing, specialist engineering business
- Collaborative and hands-on working environment
