Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Estimator to join our growing team based in Newdigate, Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking to develop a career within the construction industry, working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of projects.
The successful candidate will support the estimating and commercial teams in preparing competitive tenders, analysing project costs, and contributing to the successful delivery of projects from enquiry through to contract award.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions.
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Carry out quantity take-offs and measurement exercises.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Help compile pricing schedules and tender documents.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and databases.
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
- Support the identification of project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have an interest in construction, estimating, quantity surveying, or commercial management.
- Possess strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Have excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
- Be self-motivated, eager to learn, and capable of working as part of a team.
- Hold a relevant construction-related qualification or be working towards one (desirable but not essential).
