Trainee Assistant Manager
We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Trainee Assistant Manager to join our team at The Barn, a busy pub, restaurant, and award-winning wedding venue.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career in hospitality management. As a Trainee Assistant Manager, you will gain hands-on experience across all areas of the business, including the pub, restaurant, events, and wedding operations. No two days are the same, and you will receive ongoing training and support as you progress towards an Assistant Manager role.
As your experience and confidence grow, you will take on increasing responsibility, with promotion to Assistant Manager based on your development and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Working across all departments to gain a thorough understanding of the business.
- Supporting the day-to-day operation of the pub, restaurant, and wedding venue.
- Assisting with the planning and delivery of events and wedding receptions.
- Helping to ensure exceptional customer service standards are maintained at all times.
- Assisting with staff supervision and team leadership.
- Preparing and managing staff rotas.
- Supporting stock control, administration, and operational procedures.
- Assisting management with opening and closing procedures.
- Helping to train, motivate, and develop team members.
Essential Requirements
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Reasonable computer skills.
- Previous hospitality experience preferred.
- Highly motivated with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop into a management role.

We have privately owned The Barn for over 30 years and have had the same General Manager throughout this time. The Barn is situated in an ideal location in the centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells, close to the train station with a beautiful garden and characterful building.
In addition to our pub and restaurant business, we have developed an outstanding reputation for weddings and have been winners in the Kent Wedding Awards on several occasions and finalists every year since 2013.

Pay: £33,000.00 per year
