Maryculter House is one of the most famous and historic hotels in Aberdeen. We have an exciting opportunity to join the team as our Banqueting and Events Manager.
Job Purpose
You will provide leadership to the banqueting team and oversee all banqueting operations whilst on duty. This includes events held within the hotel and any external events catered for.
Main Responsibilities
Business Operations
· To ensure the highest level of customer service is provided in all events which include weddings, conferences, outside catering events and any others
· To ensure that all events, internal and external, are adequately staffed and to maximise the use of resources and minimise costs wherever possible
· To liaise with other departments as necessary with regard to event planning and to ensure that everything is in place to facilitate events running smoothly and in accordance with customer expectations and company standards
· To be knowledgeable in all current licensing, health, safety and food hygiene requirements and to ensure that the banqueting staff are fully compliant
· To attend and contribute to all hotel meetings and training scheduled as required
Front of House
· To lead the staff team and be the public face and to represent it as required
· To demonstrate excellent standards of service and behaviour to the team
· To liaise with the event planners as required and to ensure a warm welcome to the event
· To direct the set up of the event and to inspect function rooms on an ongoing basis and take appropriate steps to ensure facilities meet or exceed the company standards at all times
· Co-ordinate the entire operation of the event during scheduled shifts
· To maintain high standards of conduct, dress, hygiene, uniforms, appearance and posture of all team members
· To hold briefings with staff before each function providing information as necessary
· Manage all staff through shifts giving regular feedback
· Respond to any customer complaints and take appropriate action
Housekeeping
· To maintain high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety
· To ensure that all areas maintain a first class and positive visual impact
· Continually evaluate Health & Safety practices to ensure standards are met
Staffing
· To lead by example and motivate staff to achieve high standards of service that exceed customer expectations and to maximise productivity
· Identify individual training needs and develop staff to ensure they have the necessary skills to perform their duties with the maximum levels of productivity and efficiency
