Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced HGV class 1 drivers to join our logistics team covering Afternoon and night shifts with weekend coverage. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to all safety regulations. Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles in compliance with road safety laws and company policies.
- Plan routes effectively to optimise delivery times and minimise fuel consumption.
- Load and unload goods carefully, ensuring items are secured properly for transit.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding delivery schedules and any unforeseen delays.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations during all aspects of driving and cargo handling.
Skills
- Proven experience in driving commercial vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws within the UK.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record.
- Delivery driver experience is highly desirable, demonstrating reliability in meeting deadlines.
- Ability to plan routes efficiently and adapt to changing schedules or conditions.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation and vehicle maintenance records.
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks when required. This role is ideal for motivated individuals committed to safe driving practices and excellent customer service standards.
