Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Afterschool & Holiday Club Leader to oversee engaging activities for children during afterschool hours and holiday periods. The ideal candidate will be passionate about child development, organised, and able to create a safe, fun, and educational environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with children, foster their growth, and contribute positively to their afterschool experience. The working hours for the role are 25 hours/week, Monday - Friday 1.30pm-6pm during term-time and up to 40 hours/week, Monday - Friday between 8.30am-5.30pm during holiday clubs. Belmont Playcare offer exclusive wrap around care to Belmont Primary School (P1 - P3).
Duties
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and social interaction.
- Supervise children during afterschool sessions and holiday clubs, ensuring their safety at all times.
- Organise games, crafts, sports, and educational activities in accordance with programme guidelines.
- Support children's emotional well-being and behaviour management in a caring manner.
- Maintain a clean and organised activity area, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding children's progress or concerns.
- Assist with transportation arrangements for outings and trip days
- Collaborate with team members to develop programme content and improve club offerings.
Qualifications
- Qualified to Level 5 CCLD/Playwork or a degree in a related field. Consideration may be given to those working towards achieving a level 5 qualification.
- 2 years + paid experience in a leadership position within a similar role.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan engaging activities.
- Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with children, parents, and colleagues.
- A caring attitude with patience and enthusiasm for working with young people.
- Relevant child protection and first aid training or willingness to undertake such training prior to employment is desirable. This position offers a rewarding environment where you can make a positive impact on children's lives while developing your skills within a supportive team.
