Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Caretaker/Cleaner to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our facilities at the George Shopping Centre. This vital role ensures that our environment remains welcoming, hygienic, and well-organized for staff, visitors, and clients alike. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high standards of cleanliness through efficient cleaning practices and responsible caretaking.
Duties
- Opening the centre doors before beginning their morning cleaning tasks for the morning shift before returning and closing the centre doors and performing the evening cleaning tasks
- Perform thorough commercial cleaning of designated areas, including offices, restrooms, hallways, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning equipment and supplies
- Maintain cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces regularly to uphold hygiene standards
- Manage waste disposal processes efficiently by emptying trash bins and recycling containers in accordance with environmental policies
- Conduct routine inspections of the premises to identify maintenance or safety issues and report them promptly for resolution
- Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap dispensers, and cleaning materials to ensure availability at all times
- Follow health and safety guidelines diligently during all cleaning activities to prevent accidents or contamination
- Assist with light maintenance tasks when necessary to support the overall upkeep of the facility
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial work preferred; familiarity with cleaning equipment and chemicals is essential
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing time effectively
- Good physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude towards teamwork and responsibilities
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning practices is advantageous
