Role overview
Deliver and manage projects from start to finish, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes in line with Network Rail standards. You'll lead on planning, budgets, risks and reporting, drive continuous improvement, and support successful project delivery across the wider portfolio. As part of this role, you will be acting as a support function to maintenance and operations organisations. The role requires a strong ability to influence and build relationships between stakeholders on all levels. As well as delivering individual projects, you will be expected to support with leading on other workstreams and produce reporting that will feed into the wider portfolio.
What you'll do
- Lead the safe and sustainable delivery of projects, ensuring they meet time, cost and quality targets in line with GRIP, Network Rail standards and legislation
- Drive project success through robust planning, performance tracking and clear, insight-led reporting
- Take ownership of change delivery, proactively managing risks, issues and tactical changes across the project lifecycle
- Create and maintain effective project plans and budgets, ensuring strong financial control and accountability
- Champion a safe working culture while supporting continuous improvement and efficiency across projects
- Share learning and best practice to strengthen delivery and performance across the wider team
We're looking for someone who brings the experience, knowledge and drive to make a real impact, including:
- Proven experience in project management, with a track record of delivering successful outcomes
- Educated to HNC/HND level (or equivalent), demonstrating a strong technical or professional foundation
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills, able to build effective relationships across teams
- Experience in project safety management, with a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
- Working knowledge of Oracle Projects, with the ability to use systems to support effective delivery
- A solid understanding of safety, quality and environmental standards, and how they apply in practice
- Commercial awareness, with knowledge of financial and governance processes that support project success
Desirable
You'll stand out even more if you also have:
- Membership (or working towards) the Association for Project Management or a similar professional body
- A degree or equivalent qualification
- Proven understanding of PACE (Project in a Controlled Environment) Framework
