Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to support our busy culinary team. This role is vital in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, cleaning, and basic kitchen tasks, ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety are upheld at all times. Previous experience in food service or hospitality is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience within a professional kitchen setting.
Duties
- Assist with basic food preparation and organisation of ingredients
- Support chefs with cooking tasks as directed
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils
- Ensure all work surfaces and equipment are sanitised regularly in accordance with health and safety standards
- Restock supplies and organise storage areas to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Support serving staff during busy periods by clearing tables and assisting with meal service when required
- Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment
- Assist with waste disposal and recycling procedures efficiently
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene standards and health & safety regulations is advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or evenings if necessary
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills within the culinary environment
