Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA accountant, or a fully qualified AAT professional with relevant experience, to play a key role within a dynamic and supportive business.
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will assist with the monthly management accounts process and play a pivotal role in providing accurate financial information to support business decision-making. You will work closely with operational teams to develop and maintain robust cost accounting and stock control processes, while ensuring strong financial controls across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Produce monthly management reports with variance analysis and commentary.
- Develop and manage cost accounting processes in partnership with the operations team.
- Support the implementation and management of the live stock control system.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
- Oversee sales invoicing, including the Amazon storefront.
- Oversee purchase ledger and credit control activities.
- Support weekly and monthly payrolls and PAYE submissions.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
- Support the preparation of annual statutory accounts and external audits.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and controls.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial systems and data.
- Partner with departmental managers to provide financial insight.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and project support.
Requirements:
- Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or AAT qualified (or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a similar role, with demonstrable month-end accounting exposure
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with financial system Sage
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
