Due to continued expansion, we are seeking an experienced Plant & Transport Manager to join our senior operations team at our Head Office in Sandbach.
The Role
Reporting directly to senior management, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our transport operation, plant fleet and driver workforce, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and customer service.
This is a hands-on management role requiring excellent planning, organisation and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of our transport department.
- Plan and coordinate daily deliveries, collections and plant movements nationwide.
- Manage a mixed fleet of HGVs, commercial vehicles, specialist plant and drivers.
- Ensure full compliance with DVSA Operator Licence requirements.
- Maintain FORS compliance and company transport standards.
- Manage all vehicle and plant servicing, inspections, MOTs and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Oversee tachograph compliance, driver hours and working time regulations.
- Monitor fleet utilisation and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Investigate incidents, defects and compliance issues.
- Work closely with Operations, Hire Desk and Workshop teams to maximise fleet availability.
- Ensure all transport documentation and compliance records are maintained to the highest standard.
- Keep up to date with changes in transport legislation and industry best practice.
- Support continuous improvement across the transport function.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience managing a busy transport operation.
- Transport Manager CPC qualification.
- Strong knowledge of DVSA Operator Licence requirements.
- Excellent understanding of drivers' hours, Working Time Directive and tachograph legislation.
- Experience managing HGV drivers and transport planners.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams and improve operational performance.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience within plant hire, construction or specialist equipment hire.
- FORS management experience.
- Knowledge of workshop and fleet maintenance systems.
- Experience using transport management software.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £45,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
