Holiday Cover Chef – August (Temporary Contract)

We are looking for a talented and reliable Holiday Cover Chef to join our team throughout August at The Barley Mow, a busy South Downs village pub renowned for fresh, seasonal food and locally sourced produce.
This is a temporary position providing holiday cover, offering the opportunity to work in a well-equipped kitchen with a friendly, passionate team. Must be available 10 - 23rd of August.
The role would suit:
- An experienced Head Chef or Sous Chef looking for a short-term opportunity.
- A confident chef who enjoys working independently in a fast-paced fresh food environment.
- Someone available to commit throughout August.
What you'll be doing:
- Running the kitchen during the Head Chef's annual leave.
- Maintaining high standards of food quality and consistency.
- Managing stock and ensuring smooth day-to-day kitchen operations.
- Supporting and leading the kitchen team.
- Ensuring full compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in a fresh food kitchen.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills.
- The ability to work independently and confidently manage service.
- A passion for quality food and seasonal ingredients.
- Availability throughout August.

Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
