Looking for a job where being a good human actually matters?
Then you might like it here.
We're looking for Care Assistants to join the team at Danygraig Care Home in Porthcawl.
You might already have years of experience in care. You might have never worked in care before but know you're patient, compassionate and naturally good with people.
Either is absolutely fine with us.
We can teach you the practical side of the job. What we're really interested in is finding people who genuinely care about others, turn up when they say they will and understand that sometimes the little things make the biggest difference.
Because good care isn't just about completing a list of tasks.
It's remembering how somebody likes their tea. Having a laugh while you're helping them get ready. Noticing when someone's quieter than usual. Giving someone time instead of making them feel rushed.
That's the kind of care we're talking about.
So, Who Are We?
Danygraig Care Home is situated just a stone's throw from the beautiful Porthcawl coastline.
We support people with a range of individual needs in a warm, welcoming and homely environment where residents are treated as exactly that - individuals.
Our job is to help people live as independently as possible while making sure they feel safe, comfortable, respected and genuinely at home.
And we can't do that without a brilliant team around them.
Many of our colleagues have been with us for years and we're proud of the friendly, supportive atmosphere they've helped create.
What Does Being a Care Assistant Actually Involve?
First of all, you don't need to arrive knowing everything.
We'll support you with induction, training and the practical skills you'll need to do the job safely and confidently.
Your days will involve things like:
- Supporting residents with personal care, including washing, dressing and toileting
- Helping people with mobility and moving safely
- Supporting with meals, drinks and everyday routines
- Encouraging residents to maintain their independence wherever possible
- Providing companionship, reassurance and emotional support
- Getting to know residents and what's important to them
- Noticing changes in someone's wellbeing and reporting concerns
- Keeping accurate care records
- Working alongside your colleagues to provide safe, consistent care
- Treating every resident with dignity, respect and kindness
And yes, personal care is part of the job.
But so are the chats, the laughs, the cups of tea, the reassurance and all those little moments that can completely change someone's day.
Who Are We Looking For?
We're not expecting a ten-page CV.
We're looking for people who are:
- Kind, patient and compassionate
- Reliable and committed
- Comfortable supporting people with personal care
- Good communicators
- Happy working as part of a team
- Respectful of people's dignity, choices and independence
- Willing to learn
- Able to work flexibly as part of a care-home rota
Previous care experience is welcomed but it isn't essential.
If you've got the right attitude and values, we'll give you the training and support you need.
