We’re looking for a hands-on and quality-oriented CMM Engineering Fitter to join our busy and friendly Production Team at LK Metrology. In this role, you will assist our CMM Build & Calibration Technicians in the manufacture of our CMM machines and associated sub-assemblies and components. You will have the opportunity to progress within the company to a CMM Build & Calibration Technician, responsible for the complete manufacture and calibration of our globally renowned Coordinate Measuring Machines and helping some of the world’s biggest names in automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing achieve outstanding precision.
What You’ll Do
- Build our CMM sub-assemblies for new machines and spares
- Begin the electro/mechanical assembly of the CMM frame
- Mechanically prepare CMM machines for packing
- Checking that kits are complete and in line with bills of material
- Quality inspection in accordance with processes and standards
- Reading and understanding engineering drawings and/or electronic schematics
What You Can Progress To
- Fully trained CMM Build & Calibration Technician, responsible for the build from start to finish
- Laser calibration and verification of the CMM
- Ensure micron level performance of the machine
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a team player with strong practical skills and a proactive attitude. You should have:
- Proven experience as an Engineering Fitter
- An electro/mechanical qualification
- Experience in the assembly of electro/mechanical equipment to engineering drawings
- Previous experience working in a busy manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Mechanical aptitude essential, electronic aptitude desirable
- Troubleshooting skills
- Basic computer skills
A knowledge of metrology and/or previous CMM build experience would be highly advantageous, but not essential. Also, a forklift (counterbalance) licence would be an advantage, although training can be provided.
