Registered Manager – Children's Residential Home
Location: Faversham, Kent
Salary: £60,000 per annum
NTG Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead the launch of a brand-new Ofsted-registered children's residential home in Faversham.
This is a unique opportunity to establish a new service from the ground up, shaping the culture, recruiting your own team, and delivering outstanding care for children and young people.
The home will provide specialist residential care for children and young people with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). There is also the opportunity to develop strong links with educational provision, including potential on-site or partner school placements, making this an exciting opportunity for a manager with experience across both residential care and education.
The Role
As the Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the successful registration, launch, and ongoing management of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Ofsted registration process and oversee the successful opening of the children's home.
- Ensure the home operates in full compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted requirements.
- Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing residential care team.
- Develop policies, procedures, and operational systems to support the effective running of the home.
- Create a positive, therapeutic, and child-centred culture focused on delivering exceptional outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with local authorities, families, education providers, healthcare professionals, and partner agencies.
- Work collaboratively with education providers to support children's learning and school engagement.
- Manage budgets, occupancy, staffing, and overall operational performance.
- Maintain robust safeguarding practices and promote the welfare of all children and young people.
- Drive continuous improvement with the aim of achieving a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating.
About You
We're looking for an experienced and ambitious leader with the skills and passion to establish and grow a successful residential service.
Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Eligible to register with Ofsted as a Registered Manager.
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager within an Ofsted-regulated children's residential home.
- Strong knowledge of children's residential legislation, safeguarding, and the Ofsted inspection framework.
- Experience supporting children with Learning Disabilities (LD) and/or Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience opening or commissioning a new children's residential home.
- Experience working alongside educational settings, specialist schools, or alternative provision.
- Knowledge of therapeutic models of care.
- Experience recruiting, developing, and mentoring residential care teams.
- Proven track record of achieving positive Ofsted inspection outcomes.
