Do you enjoy cooking? how about cooking for a 30-bed care home in Nelson.
A part-time cook is required for friendly well regarded care home in Nelson. Hulton is home to 30 residents with varying degrees of care needs. Nutritious home cooked balanced meals are a vital part of our service.
A Flexible and helpful attitude along with a caring nature is essential in order to be part of a friendly supportive team caring for elderly frail residents some of whom are living with dementia.
Duties
- Prepare and cook daily meals in accordance with dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines
- Plan menus that cater to residents' specific needs and preferences
- Ensure all food is prepared in line with food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately
- Monitor stock levels, order supplies as needed, and manage inventory efficiently
- Collaborate with care staff to accommodate special dietary requests or restrictions
- Assist with serving meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner
- Record food temperatures and maintain accurate documentation of food safety procedures
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a similar environment or restaurant setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management
- Strong organisational skills to manage meal planning, preparation, and kitchen cleanliness effectively
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with care staff and residents as needed
- Culinary experience that demonstrates creativity and adaptability in meal preparation
- Experience in serving meals in a caring environment is advantageous but not essential
