Front of House Receptionist (Dental Practice)
Part-time – Recruiting for 2 days per week (Thursday and Friday), with a view to increasing to 3 days as our expanding team continues to grow.
Our Front of House team is at the heart of the practice, welcoming and caring for our patients while providing essential support to our clinical team. We are looking for someone with drive, exceptional time and workload management skills, strong IT confidence, warmth, empathy, and lots of positive energy.
You'll be working alongside our lovely clinicians, who are highly experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated to providing the very highest standard of patient care. We truly value every patient and believe their entire journey through the practice is just as important as the treatment they receive.
We also value our team's personal time. To recognise loyalty, we award an additional day's annual leave for every year of service, up to five extra days.
Our practice is centrally located, close to major bus routes and just a few minutes from the seafront cycle lane. During your breaks, you can also enjoy everything the Brunswick area has to offer, including the beautiful Square Gardens.
Purpose of the Role
To carry out reception and related administrative duties within the practice while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the business. You will also undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Principal.

Main Responsibilities
Provide a high-quality reception and administrative service to ensure excellent patient satisfaction while contributing to the efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability of the practice in line with GDC, CQC, and practice policies.
Key Duties
- Answer telephone calls and respond to patient enquiries in a positive, efficient, and friendly manner.
- Welcome patients and visitors warmly, ensuring they receive a professional and prompt service.
- Keep patients informed of any delays.
- Notify dentists and hygienists when patients arrive.
- Schedule appointments in accordance with practice policies, maintain accurate appointment records, and send appointment reminders as required.
- Prepare daily appointment sheets for each clinician.
- Collect and accurately record patient payments, and follow the practice payment policy when managing outstanding balances.
- Maintain patient records using the practice management software, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Liaise with dental laboratories, suppliers, and other organisations, maintaining accurate records of laboratory work sent and received.
- Respond appropriately and promptly to patient feedback, escalating comments or complaints to the Practice Manager where necessary.
- Promote and process the sale of dental products and ensure patients are offered appropriate sundries when leaving the practice.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, welcoming reception area, office, and patient facilities.
- Identify personal training and development needs and undertake agreed training through the appraisal process.
- Support colleagues across the practice and undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Principal.
- Attend practice meetings as required.

- Has previous dental reception or dental practice experience (preferred).
- Has excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Is warm, caring, empathetic, and professional.
- Has excellent organisational, administration, and time management skills.
- Is confident using computers and IT systems.
- Can multitask and remain calm in a busy environment.
- Brings a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and enjoys working as part of a supportive team.
Previous dental experience is ideally preferred, as it will help you settle into the role quickly. However, if you have outstanding customer service skills, a willingness to learn, and believe you'd be a great fit for our team, we'd still love to hear from you.
