About Us
We are a mature, active couple who run a small private farm comprising a farmhouse, paddocks, fields, gardens, and a selection of holiday and long-stay accommodation converted from former stable buildings.
Our animals include dogs, cats, sheep, miniature ponies, goats, and a particularly charming donkey named Daisy.
We are looking for a reliable, positive, and versatile individual who enjoys variety in their work and is happy to combine practical farm duties with housekeeping, driving, and general personal assistance.
About the Role
This is a flexible, hands-on position providing support with the day-to-day running of the farm and assisting with various aspects of our busy lifestyle.
Typical responsibilities include:
Animal Care
- Morning and evening feeding routines
- Checking and replenishing water supplies
- Mucking out and maintaining animal areas
- Assisting with seasonal activities such as lambing, sheep shearing, and veterinary visits
Farm Maintenance
- Fence repairs and general upkeep
- Ditch clearing and drainage maintenance
- Hedge trimming and strimming
- Basic DIY and maintenance tasks around barns, outbuildings, and farm facilities
Property Support
- Light housekeeping within the main farmhouse
- Assisting with holiday and long-stay accommodation, including guest changeovers and maintaining communal areas
Driving & Errands
- Running local errands and attending appointments
- Occasional business-related driving
- Ad hoc collections and deliveries as required
General Assistance
- Providing practical day-to-day support
- Assisting with administrative tasks when required
- Occasional travel within the UK and, potentially, overseas for business purposes
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
- In possession of a full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
- Friendly, enthusiastic, reliable, and respectful
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- A genuine animal lover with confidence around livestock and pets
- Practical, proactive, and willing to turn their hand to a variety of tasks
- Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions
Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous, but we are equally interested in candidates with the right attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
Hours & Flexibility
- Full-time position with a minimum of 30 hours per week
- Some weekend working will be required
- Typically a minimum of 4 hours per day, with additional hours available for the right candidate
- Flexible scheduling can be discussed
Pay & Benefits
- £12.71 – £15.00 per hour, depending on experience
