Peace of Mind, a service of Cumbernauld YMCA, is looking for enthusiastic and caring Child Care Assistants to join our dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity to help children develop confidence, friendships and life skills through high-quality play and learning experiences.
About the Role
As a Child Care Assistant, you'll work alongside an experienced team to provide a welcoming, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued and supported.
You'll help deliver a variety of exciting activities, encourage children's ideas and participation, and promote positive behaviour while ensuring the highest standards of care and safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment for children.
- Support a range of indoor and outdoor play and learning activities.
- Encourage children's participation, creativity and independence.
- Promote positive behaviour and act as a positive role model.
- Ensure children's safety and wellbeing at all times.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and child protection procedures.
- Complete registers and other required records accurately.
- Share children's progress with parents and carers as directed.
- Attend team meetings and training to support your professional development.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:

- A positive team player with excellent communication skills.
- Reliable, motivated and willing to learn.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.
- Confident using basic IT systems and completing written records.
Essential Skills

- Enjoys active play and engaging with children.
- Committed to learning and continuous professional development.
Qualifications
Applicants who hold an SVQ Level 3 Children & Young People (SCQF Level 7) or an equivalent recognised childcare qualification will be guaranteed an interview.
Applicants who do not yet hold this qualification may still be considered depending on current staffing requirements.

Successful applicants will be required to complete all relevant pre-employment checks, including PVG Scheme membership and SSSC registration (where applicable).
Pay: £12.71-£13.47 per hour
