Hours: part-time variable
Hourly rate: £26.51 (unqualified)* or £27.68 (qualified)* inclusive of holiday pay.
Plus, membership of Teachers’ Pension Scheme.
- the base hourly rate is £17.10 (unqualified) / £17.86 (qualified) per hour, plus payment for holiday and preparation and marking time, which gives an approximate hourly rate of £26.51 (unqualified) / £27.68 (qualified) per hour.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Higher Education Media Make-up team, delivering high-quality teaching and training to a diverse and creative student body. You will play an active role in shaping the next generation of media make-up professionals, contributing to a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
Applicants should hold a teaching qualification or be willing to work towards achieving one alongside their role.
About You
We are seeking a talented and passionate part-time Media Make-up Artist to support and work alongside our existing team, teaching students on our Higher Education Media Hair and Make-up programmes. You will be confident delivering at Foundation Degree level and committed to inspiring learners to reach their full potential.
With a background in the TV and film industry, you will bring current, real-world experience into the classroom. Your expertise will span a broad range of media make-up techniques, including straight make-up for television, bridal and fashion looks, theatrical work, ageing techniques, and character development. You will also be confident in delivering specialist skills such as SFX make-up, including bald caps, flat moulds, and ProBondo applications, as well as working with wigs.
In addition, any experience in areas such as hair cutting or barbering, wig making, prosthetics, or supporting students with academic writing would be highly valued and would further enhance the learning experience you provide.
Above all, you will be a flexible, creative, and enthusiastic educator who is passionate about teaching and learning, with the ability to motivate and engage students in a practical, industry-led curriculum.
