SB Recovery UK Ltd is seeking a skilled, reliable, and safety-focused 3.5T Recovery Driver / Roadside Assistance Driver to support our growing operations across Berkshire and surrounding areas. This role combines roadside assistance, vehicle diagnostics, and vehicle recovery using a 3.5-tonne flatbed recovery truck.
You will attend roadside breakdowns, diagnose vehicle faults, provide basic roadside repairs where possible, and recover vehicles safely when repairs cannot be completed at the roadside. Full training can be provided for the right candidate.
Both day and night shifts are available.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a 3.5T flatbed recovery truck safely and professionally
- Attend roadside breakdowns and incidents promptly
- Diagnose vehicle faults and identify the cause of breakdowns
- Carry out basic roadside repairs where appropriate to get customers moving again
- Recover and transport vehicles that cannot be repaired at the roadside
- Load, secure, and transport vehicles safely in accordance with company procedures
- Deliver vehicles to garages, customer addresses, storage compounds, or other designated locations
- Complete digital job reports and paperwork accurately
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects immediately
- Comply with all health and safety procedures and road traffic regulations
- Provide professional, reassuring, and courteous customer service at all times
- Work independently and make sound decisions in roadside situations
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (Category B) – no Class 1 or Class 2 licence required
- Legal right to work in the United Kingdom
- Clean DBS check required
- Good understanding of vehicle mechanics and fault diagnosis
- Ability to identify common vehicle issues and carry out minor roadside repairs
- Confidence working around a variety of vehicle makes and models
- Physically capable of loading, securing, and recovering vehicles
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, professional, punctual, and safety-focused
- Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience in vehicle recovery, roadside assistance, vehicle maintenance, or automotive repair
- Experience operating recovery vehicles or transporting vehicles
- Mechanical qualifications or practical workshop experience
