An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join NHS Tayside’s Hyper acute Stroke Unit at Ninewells Hospital as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist.
You will work within a fastpaced, specialist acute stroke service, providing occupational therapy assessment and intervention to patients in the hyper acute and acute phases following stroke. The role is central to supporting early rehabilitation, complex discharge planning, and recoveryfocused care in close collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
You will manage a complex caseload, delivering timely specialist assessments that address functional ability, cognition, perception, and environmental factors to support safe patient flow through the stroke pathway. Strong clinical reasoning and the ability to make rapid, wellinformed decisions within a dynamic environment are essential, alongside a personcentred approach to care.
The post includes clinical leadership responsibilities, such as supporting junior staff and students, alongside active involvement in service improvement and professional development.
The role involves close collaboration with colleagues across the neuro and stroke pathway, providing opportunities to work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to coordinated patient care. There is also potential to cross-cover different areas, allowing you to gain valuable experience across both acute and rehabilitation settings, supporting the development of a broad and versatile clinical skill set.
This role is suitable for an experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapist seeking to develop specialist stroke skills or a current Band 6 Occupational Therapist looking to further their expertise within a hyperacute setting. You will be supported by an experienced leadership team with a strong focus on supervision, development, and service innovation.
If you are passionate about stroke rehabilitation and keen to make a meaningful impact at a critical stage of patient recovery, we would welcome your application.
