Kookaburra Veterinary Practice – Easington Colliery
Part-time | 21 hours over 3 days
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 FTE, depending on experience
We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join the team at Kookaburra Veterinary Practice, a brand-new, independent, family-owned small animal practice in Easington Colliery in November/December.
We want to build a practice where patients receive excellent care, clients feel genuinely looked after, and our team enjoys coming to work. We’re looking for someone who shares those values, takes pride in their nursing and, importantly, has a good sense of humour!
Two things that are particularly important to us are becoming a Cat Friendly Clinic and developing a practice with sustainability at its heart. We’d love to find an RVN who is enthusiastic about helping us achieve these goals and bringing their own ideas to the team.
The role
This is a part-time position working 21 hours over 3 days per week.
We’re looking for an RVN with at least 2 years' post-qualification experience who is confident working within a small animal practice and enjoys being part of a close-knit team.
As a new independent practice, everyone will play an important part in helping the practice grow and develop. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute ideas, develop nursing protocols and help shape the way we do things from the beginning.
As we are starting as a small four-person team, some flexibility to support colleagues during annual leave, including occasional reception cover, would be appreciated.
What we're looking for
- RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
- Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience
- Confident small animal nursing skills
- A genuine interest in cat-friendly veterinary care
- Enthusiasm for helping us work towards becoming a Cat Friendly Clinic
- An interest in environmental sustainability and reducing the practice's environmental impact
- Friendly and approachable manner with clients
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Willingness to work as part of a small, supportive team
- Flexibility to provide occasional annual leave cover preferred
- A sense of humour is essential!
Salary & benefits
- £30,000–£35,000 FTE, depending on experience
- Paid lunch breaks
- £500 CPD allowance per year
- RCVS registration fees paid
- In addition to bank holidays, you will receive 4 weeks’ annual leave, increasing by one additional day for each completed year of service, up to a maximum of 5 weeks’ annual leave.
