Job Overview
We are looking for a caring, reliable, and practical Student Support Assistant / Family Support Worker to support a university student with daily activities, travel, and participation in education.
This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys helping others, providing practical assistance, and making a positive difference in a student’s independence and learning experience.
The role will involve supporting the student with travel from home to university, time spent on campus, and returning home safely after studies. You will provide practical assistance throughout the day to help the student access education confidently.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical support with the student’s journey from home to university and back home.
- Support the student during time spent on campus, including lectures and university activities.
- Assist with everyday practical tasks such as opening doors, carrying materials, collecting items, and organising course documents.
- Help prepare and maintain an accessible and comfortable study environment.
- Support the student with accessing learning materials and navigating the university environment.
- Provide friendly encouragement while promoting independence and confidence.
- Communicate with the student to understand their needs and provide appropriate support.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and respect at all times.
About You
You may have experience in:
- Student support, family support, care, personal assistance, disability support, or community support.
- Supporting individuals with mobility or physical access needs (desirable but not essential).
We are looking for someone who is:

Working Pattern
The role is expected to be approximately 3 days per week (Tuesday–Thursday, 9am–5pm) from September 2026.
Additional hours may become available depending on the student’s timetable and support requirements.
Location: In person – Hereford College and local travel with the student.
Role Type: Freelance / Self-employed Student Support Worker
Pay: £12.71-£15.00 per hour
