We are very excited to be recruiting for an Outreach Mentor to Greenwood School. Greenwood is a Pupil Referral Unit serving 9 secondary schools in the New Forest. Students are referred to Greenwood for a variety of reasons including being medically unfit for school, emotionally vulnerable, at risk of permanent exclusion or because they have been permanently excluded from school
The aim of outreach at Greenwood is to prevent exclusion as well as supporting effective transition for students when they return to mainstream school. The successful candidate will be expected to work with individual or groups of students as well as providing advice, support and training to staff in our partner secondary schools. This is an exciting and dynamic role where no two days are the same and you can have long-lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable young people.
The successful candidate will have;
· Commitment to and experience of working with pupils with individual needs
· Ability to motivate and encourage children to meet their targets for learning and/or behaviour
· Ability to write brief reports and keep records
· Understanding of the practical application of Equal Opportunities in a school context
· Knowledge of the statutory requirements to safeguard young people
· Ability to think outside of the box to support individual pupils
The role will be for 37 hours a week, 39 weeks per year Monday to Friday, to start as soon as possible.
