We are seeking experienced and highly skilled Fire Door Remedial Engineers to join our growing team, carrying out fire door repairs, maintenance, and compliance works across commercial, residential, and public-sector properties.
This is a hands-on, mobile role ideally suited to individuals with a strong background in fire doors, carpentry, or passive fire protection. You will be responsible for completing high-quality remedial works to ensure fire doorsets comply with current fire safety regulations and industry standards. Senior and highly experienced candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out fire door remedial works in accordance with inspection reports, remedial schedules, and current fire safety standards.
- Adjust, repair, or replace hinges, closers, locks, latches, handles, and other fire door ironmongery.
- Correct excessive door gaps, alignment issues, and closing faults to achieve compliance.
- Install, repair, or replace intumescent strips, cold smoke seals, and other fire-rated components.
- Repair damaged door leaves, frames, and associated door components.
- Complete glazing-related remedial works where trained and competent.
- Replace, or assist with the replacement of, non-compliant fire doorsets.
- Identify and report additional defects, damage, or compliance issues discovered during remedial works.
- Complete accurate job sheets, photographic records, and daily service reports using digital reporting systems.
- Liaise professionally with clients, site managers, contractors, and compliance teams.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with relevant fire safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Maintain clean, safe, and professional working environments at all times.
QualificationsEssential
- Proven experience carrying out fire door remedial works.
- Background in carpentry, joinery, fire door installation, or passive fire protection.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Fire door installation and maintenance training.
- NVQ in Carpentry, Joinery, or Passive Fire Protection.
- FDIS, FireQual, BM TRADA, IFI, or equivalent recognised fire door training.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- IPAF, PASMA, and/or Asbestos Awareness certification.

- Strong understanding of current fire door regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to interpret survey reports and remedial schedules accurately.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify compliance issues during remedial works.
- Confidence working independently across multiple sites while effectively managing workload and priorities.
- Good IT skills with experience using mobile devices and digital reporting systems.
- Professional communication and customer service skills when interacting with clients and site personnel.
