Role Overview:
We are seeking to appoint a Management Accountant to play a key role within the Finance Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of management accounts, Balance sheet reconciliation, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting. The role will provide high-quality financial information and insight to budget holders, Heads of Department, the Executive Leadership Team and the Board to support effective decision-making and organisational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce monthly management accounts and deliver timely financial reporting to management and stakeholders.
- Prepare and process month-end and year-end journals to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.
- Analyse financial performance, investigate variances, identify trends and provide clear commentary to support decision-making.
- Maintain robust balance sheet controls through the preparation and review of monthly reconciliations.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and long-term financial planning.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with financial controls and policies.
- Produce management reports, KPIs, and financial information for senior management and the Board.
- Support statutory accounts preparation, external audits, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assist with financial modelling, business cases, and investment appraisals.
- Contribute to process improvements, systems development and reporting automation.
- Monitor income and expenditure, identifying financial risks and opportunities.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as required by the organisation.
Person Specification:
- The ideal candidate will hold a Finance, Accounting, or related degree and be actively studying towards, or qualified in, a recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent).
- You will have proven experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and management reporting. Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders are essential.
- Applicants must be advanced users of Microsoft Excel and have experience of financial systems and reporting tools. Experience within social housing, not-for-profit, or regulated sectors would be advantageous.
