Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and hard-working Goods In/Out Operative to join our team. In this vital role, you will report to the Operations Manager. You will be responsible for managing the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, ensuring smooth operations across all inbound and outbound activities. Your energetic approach will help maintain high standards of accuracy, safety, and productivity. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a well-organised/successfull business.
Hours are 7-3.30 Monday to Friday, with overtime available (including Saturday mornings)
Responsibilities
- Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against delivery documentation, and safely unload goods using appropriate equipment such as forklifts.
- Prepare outgoing orders by picking, packing, and labelling items accurately according to customer specifications or internal requirements.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse machinery safely to load and unload trucks efficiently.
- Ensure all goods are stored securely and in accordance with health and safety standards, including heavy lifting protocols.
- Support general warehouse activities such as materials handling, order processing, and maintaining a clean and organised workspace.
Requirements
- Warehouse experience with an understanding of picking & packing, shipping & receiving procedures.
- Valid forklift certification and experience operating forklift trucks safely in a busy environment.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently as part of daily duties.
- Experience in materials handling, load & unload operations, and working within fast-paced logistics settings.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in stock control and documentation.
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
- Using own initiative, keep busy by doing general housekeeping and cleaning vans and pool cars.
- Occasional deliveries in 3.5t drop side van.
Pay: From £13.00 per hour
