Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Front of House / Kitchen Assistant to join our team. This dual-role position provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced hospitality setting, supporting both customer-facing operations and basic kitchen duties. The successful candidate will deliver excellent customer service, assist with food assembly and order checks, handle orders and payments, and help maintain a clean, organised environment. Prior catering or restaurant experience is desirable but not essential — a positive attitude and willingness to learn are more important. This is a paid, part-time role (6:00pm–9:00pm, Wednesday–Sunday) and is paid at the national minimum wage. It is ideal for candidates looking to develop their skills in hospitality and must be able to work all days & hours per the advert.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and take orders in a friendly, professional manner (face-to-face and by phone).
- Process cash and card payments and provide occasional table service.
- Assist with food preparation, packing and cross-checking orders under kitchen supervision.
- Ensure high standards of presentation when serving food and beverages.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the front-of-house area and kitchen, including washing-up as required.
- Replenish and maintain drink fridges and assist with stock control.
- Help set up and clear tables and manage customer flow during busy periods.
- Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction.
Person Specification / Requirements
- Previous experience in catering, cooking or restaurant work is an advantage but not mandatory; full training provided for the right candidate.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and preparation is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Friendly, professional manner with strong communication skills.
- Flexibility to work peak hours, including evenings and weekends when required.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn both front-of-house and kitchen tasks.
