Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of chippies (carpenters specializing in chipping work) and steelfixers (steel reinforcement installers) on-site
- Plan work schedules, allocate resources efficiently, and monitor progress to meet project deadlines
- Ensure all steel fixing work complies with engineering specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements
- Utilize Primavera P6 project management software to develop, update, and track project timelines and milestones
- Manage safety protocols by conducting regular site inspections, enforcing safety procedures, and addressing hazards promptly
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to team members to foster a productive work environment
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to coordinate activities and resolve issues swiftly
Experience
- Proven management experience supervising chippies and steelfixers or similar trades within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of steel reinforcement installation processes and chipping techniques
- Experience using Primavera P6 or similar project management tools for scheduling and resource planning
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively while maintaining high safety standards
- Prior experience in large-scale construction projects is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with diverse teams and stakeholders effectively
