Registered Children’s Home Manager – Solo Placement
Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: £42,000–£45,000 during registration and mobilisation, increasing to £45,000–£50,000 following successful Ofsted registration and probation

The Opportunity
An established care provider is preparing to open a brand-new specialist solo children’s home in Greater Manchester and is looking for an experienced Registered Manager to lead the service from registration through to full operation.
This is an opportunity to build and shape a home from the ground up, working closely with the senior leadership team to create a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment for a young person with complex needs.
The successful individual will have genuine influence over the culture, recruitment, care model, systems and long-term direction of the service.
The Role
As Registered Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the successful Ofsted registration, mobilisation and day-to-day management of the home.
You will:
- Lead the Ofsted registration process and prepare all required documentation.
- Ensure the home operates in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and relevant safeguarding legislation.
- Recruit, lead and develop a high-performing residential care team.
- Create a child-centred, therapeutic and trauma-informed environment.
- Maintain effective care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
- Embed strong safeguarding, governance and quality assurance processes.
- Manage staffing, budgets and operational performance.
- Build positive relationships with local authorities, commissioners, social workers, families and other professionals.
- Ensure Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 requirements are effectively managed.
- Maintain accurate, compliant and inspection-ready records.
- Lead the service towards a Good or Outstanding Ofsted judgement.
- Participate in the management on-call rota.
About You
Applicants must have:
- At least two years’ experience as a Registered Children’s Home Manager.
- Current or previous Ofsted registration.
- Experience registering a children’s home or successfully leading a service through Ofsted inspections.
- Experience managing a solo or small residential children’s home.
- Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and SCCIF inspection framework.
- Experience supporting children with trauma, emotional and behavioural difficulties, autism, learning disabilities or complex behaviours.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding, positive behaviour support and trauma-informed care.
- Proven experience recruiting, developing and retaining residential care teams.
- Experience managing budgets, staffing levels and operational performance.
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or an equivalent qualification.
- Eligibility to register with Ofsted.
- A full UK driving licence.
