Overview
Support Worker 2461 is a vital role dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to individuals in various settings, including care homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments. The position involves supporting clients with daily activities, medication management, and emotional wellbeing, ensuring they receive respectful and personalised care. Duties
- Assisting clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Supporting with meal preparation and ensuring nutritional needs are met
- Administering medication in accordance with prescribed care plans and protocols
- Monitoring and documenting clients’ health status and behaviour management needs
- Assisting with mobility and heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring safety at all times
- Engaging clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional wellbeing
- Managing case files and updating care plans regularly
- Providing emotional support and companionship to clients, fostering a trusting relationship
- Driving clients to appointments or outings as required, maintaining safe driving practices
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care
Experience
- Prior experience in nursing homes, care homes, or home care settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, hospice care, and senior care practices
- Experience with medication administration and understanding of medical terminology
- Familiarity with behaviour management techniques for individuals with cognitive impairments
- Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and follow detailed care plans
- Valid driving licence preferred for transportation duties
- Additional certifications such as first aid or caregiving qualifications are advantageous
