Location: Coulsdon, Surrey
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Contract: Temporary initially, with potential to become permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and proactive Site Manager to join a highly regarded Outstanding specialist school in Coulsdon.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Manager, Premises Manager, Caretaker, Facilities Manager or skilled Maintenance professional looking for a rewarding role within a supportive and welcoming educational environment.
The position is available immediately on a temporary basis, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.
About the School
The school is an Outstanding specialist educational setting supporting young people aged 11–19 with a range of special educational needs, including autism and cognition and learning difficulties.
The school places a strong emphasis on creating a safe, nurturing and structured environment where pupils can develop academically, personally and socially.
As Site Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the school remains safe, secure, well-maintained and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.
The Role
This is a varied and hands-on position, responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance and security of the school site.
You will be someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards and is confident dealing with both routine maintenance and unexpected issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the day-to-day operation and security of the school site
- Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and handyman duties
- Completing routine health and safety and site inspections
- Ensuring buildings, grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard
- Managing keys, access and site security
- Identifying and reporting maintenance issues and areas requiring improvement
- Liaising with and supervising external contractors
- Overseeing maintenance works and ensuring jobs are completed appropriately
- Maintaining external areas and ensuring the grounds remain safe and presentable
- Managing supplies, equipment and site resources
- Assisting with deliveries, moving equipment and general site requirements
- Supporting school events through site preparation and porterage
- Responding proactively to any issues affecting the safety or operation of the school
- Supporting the wider school team with facilities and operational requirements
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical, organised and proactive, with previous experience in a site, premises, facilities, caretaking or maintenance environment.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Site Manager, Premises Manager, Caretaker, Facilities Manager or Maintenance professional
- Strong practical maintenance and handyman skills
- The ability to work independently and use initiative
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- A good understanding of health and safety and site security
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A professional, approachable and reliable manner
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
Previous experience within a school, college, specialist education, SEN or care environment would be advantageous, although candidates with strong transferable site and maintenance experience will also be considered.
A full UK driving licence would be advantageous.
