An exciting opportunity has arisen as a result of investment from the Scottish Government to develop the Infant Mental Health (IMH) Service in NHS Forth Valley. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologists to a split post, providing clinical leadership across both the IMH sub-specialty and the Medical Paediatric Psychology Service for Children & Young People’s Psychological Services. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for a passionate clinician to contribute to the strategic development of services supporting infants (aged 0-3) and children, young people, living with physical health difficulties (0-18) in Forth Valley, and their families.
NHS Forth Valley’s Children & Young People’s Psychological Services is a well-established service, which is organised into sub-specialities with psychological leadership and specialist clinical supervision within each area of expertise. These services are operationally managed with Women’s & Children’s Services in NHS Forth Valley. We hold working links with our Adult Psychological Services colleagues and services in Perinatal, Neonatal and Maternity Mental Health Services.
The post holder will play a key role in offering clinical and delegated operational leadership in relation to increasing access to psychological interventions in Forth Valley.
NHS Forth Valley Psychology staff benefit from regular clinical and operational supervision, supportive line management, and structured job planning. We encourage the development of specialist clinical interests and offer a comprehensive in-house clinical CPD programme. We maintain good connections with national bodies and training providers, offering placements to trainees from the Doctoral, PIAT and MSc courses. Quality improvement is embedded in our culture and supported across roles.
Applicants must hold a Post Graduate Doctoral level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical/Counselling Psychology, be registered with the HCPC and have experience of working with children and families with complex needs. Experience or training in relation to attachment-based interventions, Video Interactive Guidance and trauma would be advantageous.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
