teach195. is currently recruiting Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work within specialist SEND schools, resource provisions and inclusive educational settings across Stockport and the surrounding areas. We are supporting schools with both short-term and long-term staffing requirements and are seeking experienced support professionals who are passionate about helping pupils with additional needs achieve their full potential.
We are looking for confident and adaptable HLTAs with experience supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Successful candidates will be comfortable leading learning activities, covering lessons where required and supporting pupils with a wide range of complex needs across all key stages.
The Role
As a SEND HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning throughout the school. You will work closely with teachers, SENDCOs and wider support staff to deliver targeted interventions, lead small group and whole-class activities and provide specialist support to pupils with additional needs.
This role may involve supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, PMLD, communication difficulties and physical disabilities. Some roles may also involve supporting pupils with personal care requirements.
Opportunities are available on both a flexible day-to-day basis and within longer-term placements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes
- Lead lessons in the absence of the class teacher where required
- Support pupils with a range of SEND needs across all key stages
- Deliver targeted interventions to support academic, social and emotional development
- Work alongside teachers to adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs
- Support pupils with EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
- Assist with personal care and medical needs where required
- Monitor, record and report on pupil progress
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families and multidisciplinary teams
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
What We Are Looking For
- HLTA qualification or significant experience working at HLTA level
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Strong understanding of a range of additional needs and effective support strategies
- Confidence leading learning activities and managing groups of pupils independently
- Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
- Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
- Ability to adapt to different settings and pupil needs
- Comfortable supporting personal care where required
- Professional, organised and reliable approach to work
