A&F Grant Ltd is looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Manager (CPC Holder) to join our team in Ballindalloch.
This is a hands-on leadership role with day-to-day responsibility for the effective running of our HGV transport operation across multiple locations. You will oversee transport planning, drivers, fleet management, compliance and customer requirements, while working closely with the Business Manager to drive operational efficiency and support the continued development of the business.
Hours: Working hours will be flexible and may vary according to the operational needs and requirements of the business. The role will also include weekend on-call responsibilities.
You will play a key role in leading and motivating the Transport Team, making operational decisions, maintaining high standards of compliance and ensuring our fleet and drivers operate safely, efficiently and in line with customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day transport operation across multiple UK locations.
- Plan and coordinate loads, routes, vehicles, trailers, drivers and subcontractors.
- Lead, support and motivate Transport Planners and transport staff.
- Ensure compliance with the Operator Licence, transport legislation and company procedures.
- Monitor driver compliance, infringements and operational requirements.
- Take overall responsibility for fleet and vehicle maintenance, including servicing, MOTs, inspections and defects.
- Work with Transport Planners to ensure vehicle availability and effective fleet utilisation.
- Maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Monitor transport costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Use Mandata, Excel and other relevant systems to monitor performance and produce reports.
- Work alongside the Business Manager on operational performance, significant issues and continuous improvement.
- Oversee UFAS Assurance Scheme requirements and support high standards of Health & Safety.
About You
We are looking for someone who is confident, organised and capable of taking ownership of a busy transport operation.
Essential:
- Valid Transport Manager (CPC) Certificate of Professional Competence.
- Previous experience in transport management or a senior transport planning role.
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, drivers' hours and Operator Licence requirements.
- Experience managing and motivating drivers and/or transport staff.
- Strong planning, organisational and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- Good IT skills, including Excel and transport management systems.
Desirable:
- Experience within bulk liquid, tanker or haulage operations.
- Experience using Mandata or a similar transport management system.
- Knowledge of UFAS/TASCC requirements.
- Experience with fleet maintenance and compliance.
