We are a small, independent pub company operating four venues across Nottingham and the Lincolnshire coast.
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Person / Handyman to take responsibility for day-to-day repairs, planned maintenance and general upkeep across our estate.
This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone with good practical skills who enjoys solving problems and is comfortable managing their own workload.
You don’t need to be qualified in every trade. We’re looking for a strong all-rounder who can confidently tackle everyday maintenance jobs and recognise when a specialist contractor is required.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your work will include:
- Minor plumbing repairs, including leaking taps, waste pipes, toilets and sinks
- Unblocking sinks, toilets and drainage where appropriate
- Basic joinery and carpentry
- Repairing doors, locks, hinges and handles
- Repairing bar furniture, seating and other wooden fixtures
- Maintaining fencing, beer garden furniture and external areas
- Minor plaster repairs and patching
- Painting and decorating touch-ups
- Hanging signage, shelves and fixtures
- Replacing basic ironmongery and fittings
- Checking and maintaining fire doors and emergency exit hardware
- Responding to minor urgent repairs that could affect trading
- Identifying maintenance issues before they become larger problems
- Working with venue managers and the business owners to plan maintenance efficiently
Travel & Your Working Day
Our venues are split between Nottingham and the Lincolnshire coast, and we recognise that travelling between the two regions takes time.
For that reason:
Travel between the Nottingham and coastal regions is treated as paid working time.
You will also receive a company fuel card covering authorised business mileage.
We do not expect you to use your own vehicle for transporting large or heavy building materials. These will normally be ordered from local merchants and delivered directly to the relevant venue.
There is no requirement to own or operate a commercial van.
You will simply need a reliable personal vehicle with sufficient space for your normal hand/power tools and small consumables.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Previous experience in property maintenance, facilities, construction or a similar hands-on role
- Good general DIY and maintenance skills
- Competent with minor plumbing repairs
- Competent with basic joinery/carpentry
- Able to diagnose everyday maintenance problems and find practical solutions
- Organised and able to manage your own workload
- Comfortable working independently across multiple locations
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Full UK driving licence
- Reliable personal vehicle
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2 or other trade qualification in plumbing, carpentry, joinery or a related discipline
- Previous experience maintaining pubs, hospitality venues, retail premises or other commercial buildings
- Basic knowledge of commercial cellars
- Experience with planned preventative maintenance
What We Offer
- £28,000 – £33,000 annual salary, depending on experience
- Full-time, permanent employment
- Company fuel card for authorised business mileage
- Paid travel time between our Nottingham and coastal regions
- Company-funded tools/tool allowance
- Staff discount across all four pubs
- Regular salary reviews
- Varied work across four different venues
- A high level of independence in managing your working week
- Direct communication with the business owners and venue managers
Working Hours
The position is approximately 37.5–40 hours per week.
Working patterns will be organised around the maintenance requirements of the venues. Some flexibility will be required within a hospitality environment, particularly where an urgent repair is affecting the safe operation or trading of a venue.
About You
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work.
You’ll be the sort of person who notices a loose handle, leaking tap or damaged piece of furniture and wants to get it sorted rather than walking past it.
You should be practical, dependable and capable of working without constant supervision.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to take ownership of the condition of our four venues and become a trusted part of our wider team.
Pay: £28,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Discounted or free food
- Employee discount
Work Location: On the road
