Poets House is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our kitchen team on a part time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone at the beginning of their culinary career who is keen to learn, develop their skills and work as part of a professional and supportive kitchen team.
The Role
As a Commis Chef, you will support the kitchen team in delivering consistently high-quality food for our guests. You will work closely with our senior chefs and gain experience across different areas of the kitchen.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing ingredients and assisting with food preparation.
- Supporting the chefs during service.
- Following recipes, portion controls and presentation standards.
- Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and kitchen safety.
- Ensuring food is stored correctly and safely.
- Helping with deliveries, stock rotation and kitchen organisation.
- Working efficiently as part of a busy team.
- Learning and developing your culinary skills under the guidance of experienced chefs.

Previous kitchen experience is desirable, but enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to learn are equally important.
