Care Home Maintenance Operative
Location: Orchard Court Care Home
Hours: 35 per week
About the Role
Orchard Court Care Home is looking for a reliable, proactive and practical Maintenance Operative to join our friendly team. You will play a vital role in ensuring our home remains safe, welcoming and well-maintained for our residents, visitors and staff.
Working within a residential care environment, you will be responsible for carrying out general maintenance, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the home.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and decorating throughout the home.
- Complete regular health and safety checks, including fire safety equipment and emergency lighting.
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance and report any defects requiring specialist contractors.
- Maintain the home’s gardens and outdoor areas to a high standard.
- Ensure all maintenance records and compliance documentation are completed accurately.
- Liaise with external contractors and oversee works carried out on site.
- Assist with room preparation for new admissions.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and management.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with current legislation and company policies.
- Support infection prevention and control procedures when undertaking maintenance tasks.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous maintenance or property maintenance experience is desirable.
- Good DIY skills and knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical and decorating work.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Friendly, approachable and respectful attitude towards older people.
- Reliable, organised and flexible.
- A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
