We are currently seeking a reliable and motivated Night Hygiene Operative to join our hygiene team at our Devon manufacturing site and support the smooth, safe running of our production operations.
Role Purpose
You will be responsible for cleaning and sanitising all production machinery and factory areas after each production run. Your work ensures that production lines meet food‑safety and hygiene standards, are compliant with factory requirements, and are fully prepared for the next scheduled production run, helping to minimise downtime and maintain efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete full clean‑downs of production machinery and factory areas after each production run.
- Operate CIP (Clean‑in‑Place) automated cleaning systems to clean internal machinery and pipework.
- Carry out chemical cleaning of production machinery, floors, and factory areas.
- Disassemble and reassemble machinery to ensure effective and thorough cleaning.
- Maintain high hygiene standards in all machine and production areas to ensure food and operator safety.
- Complete all hygiene paperwork accurately and as required.
- Remove waste from production areas and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Ensure changing areas are set up and ready for the next production shift.
- Handle cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with COSHH requirements.
- Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times.
- Support efficient production by minimising downtime between production runs.
About You
- Experience within food manufacturing or a hygiene‑related role is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to food safety.
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working night shifts.
- Able to work methodically and follow hygiene and safety procedures.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Shift & Pay
- Shift: 20:00–04:00
- Pay Rate £13.36
- Shift Premium: £5 per shift
- Overtime: Paid at 1.5× basic hourly rate after 37.5 hours
- Holiday: 28 days including bank holidays
- Enhanced Holiday Pay: Based on average earnings over the previous 52 weeks, including overtime (UK statutory method)
- Retention Bonus: £300 after 3 months of successful employment (subject to terms)
