Your next role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher committed to inclusive education. The ideal candidate will have significant experience of managing and co-ordinating provision for pupils with SEND and inclusion needs within a mainstream setting. They will also need to demonstrate the ability to innovate and problem-solve, as well as to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders (schools, parents/carers, children and young people, other professionals etc.).
The successful candidate will be required to advise and represent the Local Authority, recommend provision and enable effective inclusion for Swindon pupils with needs impacting their access to effective mainstream education. They will play a key role in the launch of the new DfE Experts at Hand initiative, supporting mainstream schools and settings with implementing early intervention approaches to support effective identification of need, inclusion and achievement.
Swindon is a small unitary authority that is easily accessible and is an exciting and innovative place to work. The Specialist Teaching Service is highly respected and valued across the town and operates alongside the Educational Psychology Service, within SEND and Education.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
The ability to travel throughout the Borough will be required and access to a car/ in order to be available to support sessions and events around the town.
You will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
