Teaching Assistant (Secondary School)
Location: Bristol
Pay Rate: £93–£100 per day
Contract: Full-time, Temporary
Working Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
About the Role
We are currently supporting secondary schools in Bristol in their search for experienced Teaching Assistants. This position is ideal for anyone who wants to make a lasting difference to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a secondary school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with students in Years 7–11, offering academic and emotional support
- Run targeted intervention sessions to help pupils overcome learning challenges
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day
- Provide focused assistance to pupils with SEN and SEMH
- Put into practice the strategies outlined in students’ EHCPs, feeding back progress to the SENCo and making amendments when necessary
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCos, and support staff to monitor and celebrate student progress
Who We’re Looking For
- Previous experience supporting young people with SEN or behavioural needs
- Previous experience working in schools (ideally secondary schools)
- Relevant SEND qualifications or training (beneficial but not essential)
- A background in education, coaching, youth work, or similar roles
- Patience, resilience, and strong empathy
- A genuine interest in helping students thrive academically and emotionally
