Fire Safety Consultant
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fire Safety Consultant to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a fire safety professional who enjoys working directly with clients and delivering practical solutions that improve fire safety standards across a range of premises.
As a small, specialist fire safety consultancy, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality, personal advice rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out fire risk assessments, providing expert guidance to clients, and helping organisations meet their legal responsibilities under current fire safety legislation.
Our office is based in Malvern, Worcestershire, however the majority of our clients are located in London and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will therefore be required to travel regularly to client sites, typically spending 2–3 days per week working in London depending on project requirements.
The role offers a balance of site-based consultancy work, client interaction, and remote report writing/administration. Travel time and arrangements will be discussed during the recruitment process.
The role will involve a mixture of site visits, report writing, client communication, and providing practical fire safety solutions across commercial, residential, and specialist premises.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out detailed Fire Risk Assessments in accordance with relevant legislation and recognised industry guidance.
- Inspect a variety of premises including commercial buildings, residential properties, industrial units, offices, and public buildings.
- Identify fire hazards, assess risk levels, and provide practical recommendations for improvement.
- Produce clear, accurate, and professional fire risk assessment reports.
- Provide clients with advice on fire safety compliance, emergency procedures, and risk reduction measures.
- Review existing fire safety arrangements including:
- Fire alarm and detection systems
- Emergency lighting
- Fire doors and compartmentation
- Means of escape
- Fire procedures and documentation
- Staff training requirements
- Support clients with ongoing fire safety management and compliance.
- Deliver fire safety awareness training where required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes to fire safety legislation, standards, and best practice.
- Develop positive working relationships with clients and provide excellent customer service.
Experience & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience completing Fire Risk Assessments within a consultancy, safety, or fire service environment.
- A strong understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and current fire safety guidance.
- Experience assessing a range of building types and occupancy profiles.
- Ability to interpret fire safety legislation and provide practical advice.
- Strong report writing skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to liaise with clients, contractors, and responsible persons.
Desirable Qualifications
- NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate (or equivalent)
- Fire Risk Assessment qualification
- IFE membership or other recognised fire safety accreditation
- Experience working towards third-party certification schemes
- Experience in fire strategies or building regulations compliance

Pay: £30,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
