Summary of the Role
As the Centre Manager, you are responsible for the safe, smooth, and successful operation of the playcentre. Your highest priority is ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and guests while delivering an outstanding experience based on fun, warmth, and professionalism. You will lead and motivate a high-performing team, maintain excellent operational standards, manage financial performance, and ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety and safeguarding requirements. You are accountable for meeting financial targets by driving revenue, controlling costs, and maximising the commercial potential of the centre through effective planning, team performance, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Operational Oversight
- Lead the daily running of the centre, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and customer service across all areas.
- Be a visible and supportive leader on the floor, guiding the team to deliver a brilliant guest experience.
- Oversee opening and closing procedures, ensuring the site is safe, secure, and fully prepared for guests.
- Submit daily End of Day reports, summarising operations, incidents, and any key issues or highlights.
2. Health & Safety Compliance
- Take full responsibility for Health & Safety performance, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements and internal policies.
- Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks are completed and accurately recorded.
- Report and address maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Ensure all accidents, incidents, and safeguarding matters are recorded and managed appropriately.
3. Financial Management & Commercial Performance
- Manage the centre’s P&L, driving income and controlling expenditure in line with budget targets.
- Monitor departmental performance, identifying areas for efficiency and improvement.
- Ensure consistent and accurate handling of bookings, payments, and customer records.
4. Customer Service & Experience
- Always promote responsible fun and outstanding service throughout the centre.
- Deal with customer queries, complaints, and escalations in a calm and professional manner.
- Gather and act on customer feedback to improve service quality and satisfaction.
- Ensure House Rules are respected, and that children play safely in appropriate areas for their age or size.
5. Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and develop team members to maintain consistently high standards.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and fun workplace culture that reflects the company’s values.
- Provide clear guidance, regular feedback, and day-to-day coaching to support team performance.
6. Activity & Event Support
- Design and deliver parties, events, and activities to ensure they run safely and smoothly.
- Provide cover for reception and café areas as needed, including customer check-in, phone enquiries, and light food service.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven leadership experience in a customer-facing, multi-functional environment.
- Strong commercial awareness, with hands-on experience managing budgets and cost controls.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety legislation and risk management in public venues.
- Well-organised with great attention to detail and follow-through.
- Calm, confident, and professional when dealing with incidents or complaints.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to lead, influence, and inspire others.
- A proactive problem-solver with a drive for continual improvement.
Pay: £35,609.60-£41,225.60 per year
