Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Cafe and Retail Assistant to join our team. in our busy cafe, deli and retail shop. We are a family run business in a vibrant community, and as such the role requires a great all rounder, who enjoys a varied day and is able to work cnfidently in a fast paced environment. The successful candidate must be team player who is flexible and willing to work across different areas of the business, providing excellent customer service and creating a welcoming environment for our customers. There is much scope for growth within the role including training in all areas of the business and an opportunity to move into management.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide attentive service in both the café and retail areas
- Take orders accurately and process transactions efficiently using the point-of-sale system
- Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks and food in the cafe.
- Assist customers with product enquiries, offering recommendations and up-selling where appropriate
- Maintain visual merchandising standards to ensure attractive product displays
- Replenish stock and merchandising in the shop and cafe.
- Handle phone enquiries professionally, providing information about products and services
- Manage cash handling, ensuring accuracy at all times
- Support the organisation of stock deliveries and inventory checks
- Maintain cleanliness of the café and retail spaces in line with health and safety standards
- Adhere to health and Safety, allergens and food hygiene standards at all times
- Punctuality and Reliability are a must.
Qualifications
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly telephone manner (phone etiquette)
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately
- Experience in merchandising or retail environments is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to manage time efficiently during busy periods
- Good organisational skills to keep work areas tidy and stock well-organised
- Previous experience in customer service roles is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided for specific duties
- previous experience in barista work although refresher training is given
- knowledge of health and safety and food standards is necessary and refresher training will be given

Pay: £12.71-£13.00 per hour
